Preparation
For best results, make sure that surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry.
- Water-borne coatings can be sensitive to rubber containing plasticisers such as flexible PVC strips. The plasticisers may cause the paint film to partially dissolve and become sticky. It is recommended that you replace these strips with those made of EPDM rubber and seek the advice of the manufacturer.
- Treat knots with an appropriate knotting solution.
- Any surface defects should be filled with the appropriated filler.
- When applying water-based paints to surfaces previously decorated with a conventional solvent based paint, very thorough surface preparation will be necessary.
- Extra precautions should be taken when removing pre 1960s paint as it may contain harmful lead.
Application
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. Stir thoroughly, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before painting the entire surface to ensure compatibility.
- Apply by brush, roller, conventional or airless spray. For best results use a good quality synthetic (nylon polyester) brush, designed for use with water-based paints.
- To get the best from Dulux Trade Quick Dry Satinwood, lightly dampen both the brush and the surface before application to increase flow out.
- Stir thoroughly before use. Apply 1 or 2 coats of as required, followed by 1 full coat of Dulux Trade Quick Dry Satinwood.
- If the change of colour is going to be significant, a total of 3 coats will be needed.
- Do not close newly painted doors or windows tightly until the paint is fully dry. Do not apply at temperatures below 8°C
